DSA and fire sprinkler deferred approval update.
Effective July 1, 2010, the Division of State Architect (DSA) will no longer accept deferred fire sprinkler submittals. Sprinkler plans will need to be included with the architectural, mechanical, and electrical initial submittal, rather than at a later date. Additionally, DSA will require all sprinkler systems to be designed by an appropriately licensed engineer, such as a Fire Protection Engineer. The benefits of this change, as stated by DSA, include: · Reduction in project delays · Enhanced Architect of Record/Engineer of Record design control of the entire project, as required by law · Better drawing coordination Fewer redesigns |
